I work on my DIY budget fireplace makeover. Day 3 is finishing up construction and touch-up. I constructed a mantel from poplar and crown molding and the wall from shiplap. This fireplace makeover is complete!

[Music] hey everyone welcome back to workshop and home today is day three of this 1990s fireplace remodel so today should be the final day of the project i'm going to focus on getting the framing up for the ship lap and getting the mantel installed so let's go oh so i've had this porter cable palm nailer for quite a long time it's pretty good and if you don't want to spend the money on a framing nailer this works just fine and i'll put a link down in the description below so [Laughter] foreign [Laughter] so [Music] uh [Music] so i have the framing for the hole done and that will give me a little extra to nail to when i get the framing on the outside of the wall but the next step is going to be to put the mantel on so i'm going to get that nailed in place now um the next part will be the framing on the outside of the wall oh ah so ah um so the next step is putting on the ship lap and as you can see i got the first two pieces on because i had to calculate you know the height and cut the bottom one you know smaller and then we also have this electrical socket here that i had to cut in so i did that off camera now it's just filling in the rest of the ship lap and then on to touch up so so uh well i got the crown molding up and now i just have these two pieces left it's the corner trim and put that on oh well that's it everything's complete i just gotta set the nails fill them do a little touch-up paint and hook up that electrical i hope you've enjoyed this three-part series and if you missed any of them i have them linked down in the description below thanks for watching we'll see you next time [Music] so [Music] [Music] you
